Remarks that capable men are needed to take charge of the observatory '...Fr Pigot is doing his best to get away - to Japan I think - and in any case - though very capable - he is such a bundle of nerves - that he cannot deal properly with any assistant he engages to help him. In consequence of this and his own very indifferent health - the observatory work is hopelessly in arrears. Moreover for want of funds we have been unable to roof in properly the seismological tunnel...' (24 August 1911, 4pp). Sends the greetings of Fr Porter, who asks Fr Tuite to look in the archives for an instruction from the Fr General around 1878, which modified the ordination of Fr Roothaan on the Minervale.
