A file relating to Duntryleague, Orange, a property belonging to the Dalton family and the location of the new Novitiate. Includes: handwritten letter from Fr John S Bourke, St Patrick's College SJ, Grey Street, East Melbourne, to Irish Fr Provincial John Fahy SJ on issues such as: school results; vocations; the community spirit at St Patrick's College, ‘a happy family’; finances; the Archbishop of Melbourne and his wish for a reception for the Papal Legate; the choice of a new novitiate - give a trial to Dalton Estate, Duntryleague, Orange, New South Wales…the Bishop of Bathurst refused us permission to go to Orange ,'Now I think we should sell the property. Whatever sentimental reasons there may have been for holding it to please the Dalton's - must now I think be overruled.' (2 December 1928, 6pp). Includes typewritten account of the Dalton Estate by Fr Sullivan (14 March 1929) and handcoloured map of Duntryleague, Orange, New South Wales (the Dalton property).

Includes a letter referring to the offer of a site at Oxley near Brisbane for a Jesuit College by the Archbishop of Brisbane, Dr James Duhig. Discusses the pros and cons of accepting the offer. Includes a copy of the Archbishop's letter to J. Sullivan (1 November 1925, 5pp).

Letter from Jeremiah Sullivan SJ, St Mary's, North Sydney to Irish Fr Provincial John Fahy SJ, St. Francis Xavier's, Upper Gardiner Street, Dublin concerning a number of matters relating to the Australian Mission including: the departure of Frs. Loughnan, Montague and Mr Spillane, visitation to Toowong, disappointment of the Archbishop that the Society of Jesus has not increased their numbers in Brisbane, the creation of Australia as a Vice-Province.

Letter from Fr Jeremiah Sullivan SJ, St Ignatius College, Riverview, Sydney to Fr Thomas Wheeler SJ concerning the voyage to Australia and news from Riverview. Refers to retreats given by Fr Edward Sydes and Fr Tom Walsh. Remarks '...(they) are Sydney's great rival preachers...(Fr Walsh) is to give a retreat to the St. Vincent de Paul Society this week and is styled on their posters and handbills as "one of the most attractive and eloquent of the younger Jesuits" '.
