Remarks that he believes Dr Cullen will not make any changes but remarks 'I...hope that his letter to me about the expenses was written under the influence of the severe indisposition which has made him so anxious and distressed about his heavy duties generally and...he will see reason to withdraw what he said to me. I therefore do earnestly hope you will not desert the university.' (14 November 1858, 2pp).

• Includes a letter referring to Judge O'Hagan's involvement with the Land Commission. Remarks '...I know nothing of legal matters or of the Irish agrarian question that does not equitably deprive me of having any opinion at all on the points of issue between you and the House of Lords (10 August 1883, 3pp).
