Document entitled 'Reasons for not publishing the names of students in the Intermediate Honour Result List 1902, 1903, 1904':

  1. The original intent was to allow Catholics to avail of themselves of the Nutting Bursaries at Trinity College Dublin, and these no longer exist.
  2. Setting school results in competitive comparison does a great injustice to small schools of great merit.
  3. The rivalry engendered by such lists brings unhelpful pressures on clever students, often to the serious injury of their healths.

On the penultimate page, details information re. the College, including the departments (preparatory and intermediate) courses followed, reports, terms, school fees, lunch, discount on fees for brothers subjects taught, extra-curricular activities, discipline, fees, school regulations etc. On reverse, ‘Coisreacad Staidear’ as Gaelige.

British Armies in France. January 1917’, (21pp), possibly in the possession of Fr Henry Gill SJ. A section of ‘Roman Catholic Chaplains’ is underlined, where the chaplain should live, p.11, ‘with the Transport when the Battalion is in the trenches, unless by arrangement with the Senior Chaplain, it is decided that he shall be in the trenches’. Includes his first letter to the Irish Fr Provincial written from Salisbury (4 September 1941, 2pp); letter from Ursula Murphy [Fr Murphy’s sister] to Fr Coyne stating she had received word that Fr Murphy had gone overseas (1 December 1941, 1p.); letter to Fr Michael O’Meara (See CHP2/32) (13 October 1943, 1p.) and letter to Fr Provincial from Fr Murphy written on ‘a memorable day, the end of the war in Italy’ (2 May 1945, 2pp). Lined notebook with handwritten entries which record important dates in the history of the church and community at Upper Gardiner Street, Dublin. Gives some background history from 1829 - 1884 and a photograph of Fr Thomas Kelly SJ. Includes information such as: members of the community and records the arrival of new members and the departure of the old, illnesses, deaths and funerals, novenas, feasts, building work carried out to the buildings and church notices. Also contains several insertions, some loose and some pasted onto notebook pages including; newspaper cuttings of special ceremonies, advent, calendars and retreats. Includes contents page by Fr James Rabbitte SJ.
