Father, James, was foreman for a building firm. Mother was Elizabeth (Doherty). Family then lived at Pretoria Terrace, Omagh.

Eldest of two boys with a sister.

Confirmed at Sacred Heart, Omagh, by Dr McHugh of Derry, 24/05/1922
